Jemden

CHARACTER BIO

Battles are not solely won through the might of weapons or the endurance of warriors, and for those societies left after the world’s shattering, there is little hope in victory through strength alone.  Jemden knows this as her homeland, Aegytupus, has embraced this reality. Their armies do not march into slaughter, but rather they wield the desert as a protective shield around their great cities, creating mazes of empty sand and hammering sun.

Jemden appreciates this as while she is no fighter, she understands subtlety. Her illusionary magic cannot truly harm, and truth be told, even in the skirmishes of which she has participated, she has yet to ever take a life. She is thankful for this as she is an entertainer by nature, and to her, her magic is meant to animate the ancient stories of her people, but her homeland, her fans, do not need an artist, they need victory on the field.  As a Bestet, naturally agile and small, she weaves through the battlefield, using her magic to cloak her injured allies and distract her foes, keeping herself safe through beguiling disruptions.

Her enemies hack at illusions, blind to the warrior behind them, and they find their own magics and abilities wasted on shimmering air as Jemden’s magic fades.  She takes a great deal of joy in this as the dawning realization on her foe’s faces is like a cool drink in the summer shade.  While often initially off-putting to the many warriors around her, her magic is indispensable, and in the quiet moments between bloodshed, many are happy for her performances.
